David Mayernik is a highly accomplished figurative painter who works within the classical humanist tradition, painting in oil on canvas and watercolor on paper, in addition to in situ work in buon fresco; he especially appreciates the challenges that commissioned work brings. He studied fresco technique with renowned restorer Leonetto Tintori in Tuscany, and has spent more than two decades researching Old Master painting and drawing techniques.

His subject matter ranges from plein air sketches to portraits, narratives, and allegories. His work has been exhibited in Europe and across the United States; in addition to lecturing widely about the classical tradition, he has taught drawing at the New York Academy of Art and at Notre Dame's School of Architecture.
