David Mayernik has been painting frescoes for more than a decade.
He studied in Tuscany with renowned
restorer Leonetto Tintori, and has painted commissioned frescoes in the United States, Italy and Switzerland.
He brings his experience as an architect to bear on his fresco commissions, providing a broader perpsective
and thorough planning. All of his work is uniquely related to the site, its meaning, and to his clients.

if you would like to commission a new work in buon fresco.
Left: David Mayernik painted this fresco for the church of San Cresci, in the Mugello region of Tuscany,
in July 2002; it "completes" a pair of canvases from the 17th century that portray Mary and John at the foot
of the cross, where the cross portion of the canvas that had once existed was at some point removed.
The new fresco is thus an extension of the narrative in the historic paintings, but also forms part of the
liturgical space of the church's winter chapel. At the end of the chapel, the Scuola di Affresco of Prato
simultaneously restored an early 18th century fresco of the Annunciation.
Below: The chapel itself will eventually be completed by a frescoed cycle of the life of San Cresci,
the third century martyr whose relics are housed there; the first of five scenes of his life was painted in August 2003.
